CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayoral candidate Willie Wilson received the endorsement from a group of influential Black pastors Wednesday.
The pastors were led by Bishop Larry Trotter of Sweet Holy Spirit Church in the South Shore neighborhood, who backed Mayor Lightfoot four years ago, but is now voicing support for Wilson.
"None of the candidates have done as much for the black community as Dr. Willie WIlson," he said.
Wilson said he would eliminate violent crime. "Take the handcuffs off the police officers and put them on the people who's actually doing the crime."
Wilson repeated a remark that raised eyebrows during a debate when he said criminals would be hunted down like rabbits.
He also said he will lower property taxes if elected mayor and public housing residents will get four meals a day, if they want.
