This Saturday Wilson will be giving away another $1 million in free gas at a number of participating stations in the city and suburbs. An exact amount is still being negotiated but Wilson expects there to be 30 to 40 locations where you could fill up.

“People are really hurting out here in terms of trying to survive, trying to be able to pay rent, trying to buy groceries. And, we’re just trying to play our part as well,” Wilson said at a morning press conference.

He also implored Mayor Lightfoot and other local government officials to lift the gasoline tax for the event, claiming that during his last giveaway, gas stations were charged over $100,00 in taxes.

Wilson, who last week announced his bid for the 2023 Chicago mayoral election, held two gas giveaway events in March, totaling $1.2 million in free gas to area residents.
