CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayoral candidate and businessman Willie Wilson's third gas give-away - another million dollars - has people lined up at participating stations on the south and west sides.
Judging from the responses from people filling up at 111th Street and State Street, he won some votes.
"I think it's wonderful and it's good for the community," one woman told WBBM regarding the giveaway. She said Wilson has her vote, because of the giveaways.
"I appreciate it and I'm glad I ain't gotta spend out of my pocket today-fifty dollars, that's a pretty good amount of money gas I could ride around with," said one man. He also said that Wilson has his vote.
However, a man who lives across the street from the gas station wasn’t as supportive.
"I think this is another move by a democrat and I really think we don't need gas," he said.
"We probably need funding for these homes out here-maybe something to put into the youth around here, maybe some parks or something-a grocery store, that'll do."
He also said the money spent on giving away free gas is going towards immigrants who own gas stations and not Americans.
Wilson has now spent $2.2 million dollars giving away gas.
