(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago’s mayoral race is getting rather pricey.

Incumbent Mayor Lori Lightfoot has secured just over $2.5 million in campaign funds. It’s more than any of her opponents, with the exception of businessman Willie Wilson, who has more than $4.5 million in the bank.

Records from the Illinois State Board of Elections show that Wilson loaned his campaign $5 million back in April 2022. Wilson’s contribution to his fund is the largest single donation anyone has made so far in Chicago's mayoral race.

Lightfoot, though, has been the most effective fundraiser. As of July 18, her top single donations were from the Carpentry Advancement Political Action Committee Fund and Fred Eychaner. Both gave $100,000 each to Lightfoot’s campaign.

Laura Ricketts, Jerry Reinsdorf, and the Illinois Black Business Political Fund have also donated to Lightfoot’s campaign.

The latest campaign finance records showed former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas is third in financing, with about $886,000.

The bulk of Vallas’ funds came from a single donor, Michael Keiser, who contributed $500,000 to  the Vallas campaign.

A large funding gap sits between Vallas and the remaining mayoral candidates.

Records show Ald. Raymond Lopez (15th) received a single donation of $100,000 from Donald Levin, the owner of the Chicago Wolves.

State Rep. Kam Buckner, Ald. Roderick Sawyer (6th), and community activist Ja’Mal Green have all raised under $100,000.
