(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for much of the Chicago region beginning Wednesday evening, but forecasters are still trying to nail down how much snow to expect the following day.

Warmer temps in the low-50s were expected Wednesday, but rain in the evening was expected to turn into a wintry mix as temperatures plunge, with sleet and gusting winds, overnight into Thursday.

And that’s where thing could get problematic, the National Weather Service said. Up to 6 to 10 inches of snow could come Thursday, but forecasters on Tuesday were refining their predictions.

Flooding in some areas could also be a concern.
