(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — It was one of the biggest drug cases in Chicago history, as two West Side drug traffickers cooperated with the government to bring down the kingpin known as “El Chapo” Guzman.

Now, the wives of those two informants are charged with laundering their drug profits.

The wives sometimes use the names Mia Flores and Olivia Flores. They are married to Pedro and Margarito Flores, the twins who got caught and then teamed up with the feds to help put away Sinaloa cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera.

The wives even wrote a book, Cartel Wives. It was billed as “a true story of deadly decisions, steadfast love, and bringing down El Chapo.”

The women have been indicted for laundering hundreds of thousands of dollars of the twins’ drug money.  They allegedly hid some and spent $100,000 on travel, more than $165,000 on private school tuition and $80,000 on rent for one of the wives.

The U.S. government wants them to forfeit more than $500,000.
