(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Rogers Park residents used social media to reunite a woman with her goat this week.

Amanda Haggerty wrote about her experience finding the little goat on Facebook. She was taking her dog for a walk.

“I don’t think my dog has ever seen a goat before, either,” she tells WBBM Newsradio.

Haggerty went inside to grab another leash, and he was gone. She found him trotting along,  a half block away. She caught him a few blocks later.

“He just sat in my lap in the car, and he was very snuggly. I think he was grateful not to be outside anymore.”

Haggerty wrote about the rescue on the Rogers Park Neighborhood News page on Facebook. The owner posted about losing her goat on the same page.

The goat, named Messi, was taken in by the Red Door Animal Shelter where he was later reunited with his relieved owner.
