CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — After being fired and roundly condemned for tweets calling the Waukesha parade tragedy “karma” for the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict, a former Democratic Party of DuPage worker said she’s ashamed of her behavior.

She was lashing out over the verdict and not thinking of the Waukesha victims, that’s what Mary Lemanski is saying after she was fired on Monday as social media director of the DuPage Democratic Party.

Six people, including an 8-year-old boy, died when an SUV barreled through a crowd of people at a Christmas parade Sunday in the Milwaukee suburb. Darrell Brooks Jr., 39, was arrested and charged with counts of homicide Tuesday. His bail was set at $5 million, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 14.

She told the Chicago Tribune she regrets not thinking about her tweets and their implications before tweeting that karma came quickly for the people of Wisconsin.

Lemanski said she’s been receiving threatening calls and texts after her personal information posted online.
