(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Workers of the Wisconsin-based Colectivo Coffee chain have reached a new, two-year contract.

It’s the first labor agreement since workers organized in 2021 with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

Union leadership said employees ratified the contract with over 95% approval. The agreement will cover about 90 employees in the Chicago area and nearly 500 in Wisconsin.

An IBEW spokesman said employees won pay raises, paid sick leave and improved scheduling rules.

“This contract ratification is the culmination of the efforts of hundreds of workers over the past three years,” said Hillary Laskonis, who works at a location in the Milwaukee area. “I look forward to what the future holds for us behind the counter and throughout Colectivo Coffee.”

WBBM Newsradio has reached out to Colectivo Coffee for comment on the new contract.

The chain has five cafes in the Chicago area and 15 in Wisconsin.
