CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A pair of workers stuck on a silo elevator were rescued by Chicago firefighters Tuesday morning.
Fire officials said the two workers became trapped in an exterior elevator attached to a 200-foot silo, located in Hegewisch, on 130th Street near Torrence. The elevator was up 150-feet when it electronically malfunctioned, Chicago Fire District Chief Jamar Sullivan said.
The workers were uninjured and brought down to safety by firefighters.
Sullivan noted that the workers were never in danger because the elevator’s safety features remained in place despite the electrical failure.
