BRADLEY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The family of a Bradley police officer who was shot in the head but survived an attack at a motel three months ago is providing an update on his condition.
On December 29, Officer Tyler Bailey and Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic were ambushed and shot in the head while investigating a noise complaint at a Comfort Inn.
The family of Officer Bailey said he was just told a few days ago that Rittmanic was killed.
Bailey’s family said that, as you might imagine, the officer took the news very hard. He has promised to dedicate the hard work of his recovery in memory of Sgt. Rittmanic.
The family said his determination level has kicked into another gear. They also continued to offer thanks to all the first responders for what they’ve done and what they continue to do.
