(WBBM NEWSRADIO) —  The City of Chicago is directing residents to a website meant to help people secure appointments for the coronavirus vaccine.

The announcement comes amid complaints that residents who qualify for Phase 1B of vaccine distribution are having a hard time navigating the host of web portals out there. A shortage of vaccine has not helped.

Now, residents have one more option. They can visit the free website ZocDoc, which can help them track vaccine availability and set up an appointment with providers.

ZocDoc, which is plugged into hospital systems across the region, can even send alerts to users as more vaccine supply is available.

Chicago Public Health Director Allison Arwady emphasized that it may take awhile to schedule the appointment. Some people may be seeing only appointments available for next month, she noted.

“Many appointments are already booked and filled with our frontline essential workers, etc.,” she said Tuesday.

Phase 1B also includes anyone 65 or older.
