With supply chain issues affecting products across the globe, stores continue to have trouble keeping numerous products on shelves, with the latest shortages including baby formula.
The drugstore chain Walgreens shared with CNN that the demand for infant formula has skyrocketed at its more than 9,000 locations across the nation. With the demand, suppliers are struggling to meet orders quickly.
A spokesperson for the drugstore, Emily Hartwig-Mekstan, shared with CNN that the issue with suppliers "may cause temporary and isolated shortages."
In order to help parents looking for formula and those seeking hard-to-get products in general, Walgreens is posting product availability updates on its websites throughout the day.
"We are restocking stores as quickly as possible and continuing to work diligently with our supplier partners to best meet customer demands," Hartwig-Mekstan said. She added that the retailer is meeting demand from customers.
One issue parents face with formula is looking for specific brands, as babies can develop intolerance to ingredients in certain formulas.
Mead Johnson Nutrition, the maker of Enfamil infant formula, said it has ample supply, ensuring "that all babies can get the nutrition they need."
