Airplane bathrooms are cramped.  It’s a reality we all have to accept.

However, the U.S Department of Transportation has issued new regulations that require bathrooms on airplanes be big enough to fit two people.

Now we know what you’re asking: What could two people possibly be doing in an airplane bathroom? Insert your own joke here about the Mile High Club.

In reality, the purpose of this new ruling is to make it easier for passengers with disabilities and their attendances to enter the restroom at the same time, and comfortably maneuver throughout the space.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a press release, “Traveling can be stressful enough without worrying about being able to access a restroom; yet today, millions of wheelchair users are forced to choose between dehydrating themselves before boarding a plane or avoiding air travel altogether.”

However, we won’t necessarily be seeing these changes any time soon as these requirements apply only to aircrafts ordered 10 years after the rule goes into effect.
