White sand beaches and coral reefs await couples who travel to the top trending honeymoon destination in the world, according to a recent survey from European tourism company Kuoni.
Its analysis of 445 TikTok hashtags revealed the top honeymoon destinations favored by the app’s users. According to a CNBC report from last year, TikTok estimated that it had 1 billion monthly users worldwide.
The Maldives – a nation of islands in the Indian Ocean that spans across the equator – landed in the top spot. These islands are home to 5% of the planet’s coral reefs, according to the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation, as well as 167 resorts.
Here is the top 10 list of honeymoon spots found by Kuoni:

3. Bali
4. Greece
5. Antigua and Barbuda
6. Malaysia
7. Mexico
8. United Kingdom
9. Dubai
10. Costa Rica
Posts with the hashtag #Maldiveshoneymoon featuring private villas, fine dining and spas on TikTok garnered 3.5 million views. Italy had almost as many at 3.3 million, with posts showing vistas from “the breath-taking Dolomite mountains to the vibrant Amalfi coast.”
For couples in the U.S. who would rather stay in the country for their honeymoon, Kuoni provided a list of the top trending states for romantic getaways:

4. Colorado
5. Alaska
6. California
7. Florida
8. Utah
9. Wyoming
10. Arizona
America’s own island chain, Hawaii, was the top choice in the states.
“Home to some of the world’s most active volcanoes, brimming with emerald shores and glorious stretches of beaches, the Hawaiian Islands will make for the honeymoon trip of a lifetime,” said Kuoni.
Further down on the list, Montana and Texas, had 19,400 and 15,300 views respectively on TikTok. In Montana, couples can visit the Rocky Mountains and Yellowstone National Park, While Texas “also has a lot to offer, from the out of this world experiences at the Space Centre to admiring the natural wonders found in Big Bend National Park,” said Kuoni.
