WASHINGTON (1O1O WINS) -- An "agitated" woman was arrested near the U.S. Capitol Friday morning after swinging a baseball bat at police officers and biting one of them, the U.S Capitol Police said.

Officers approached the woman -- identified as Olivia Romano, 25 -- on First Street SW, just west of the Capitol, around 9:30 a.m.

Romano “appeared agitated” and began yelling officers.

“When she raised the bat, the officers attempted to take it. In that moment, the woman became combative and bit one of the officers,” police said.

The extent of the officer's injury is unknown.

Romano has been taken into custody and charges are pending.
