A woman in northwest Iowa, who was found in a ditch and later died, is believed to have been attacked by her five Great Danes, resulting in her death, local authorities shared.
KTIV reported that a man stumbled upon the woman in Clay County on Monday. While he could see she needed help, he couldn’t get close to her because of the large dogs.
The woman, Mindy Kiepe, 43, was later identified after the man contacted the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene and determined that she was dead, the office shared.
It was later determined by the state medical examiner that Kiepe died from multiple dog bites. An investigation determined it was her Great Danes that killed her.
The sheriff’s office shared that the dogs were euthanized.
