As if you needed another reason to be afraid of dating, police said a man was stabbed in a Las Vegas hotel by the woman he had met via an online dating site, according to police.
After planning the date with the man, the woman allegedly stabbed him in retaliation for the 2020 death of an Iranian military leader the U.S. killed in a drone strike, according to authorities.
The woman, Nika Nikoubin, 21, has now been charged with battery with a deadly weapon, burglary, and attempted murder, KLAS-TV reported.
Henderson police that after meeting online, the two agreed to meet at the Sunset Station on March 5, renting a room together, KLAS-TV reported.
After getting to the room, police reported that the two began having sex. During that time, the man had a blindfold put on him by Nikoubin, who turned off the lights, police reported.
Several minutes later, in the dark room, the man told police that he "felt a pain on the side of his neck," KLAS reported.
The police report went on to say that Nikoubin stabbed him in the neck "for revenge against U.S. troops for the killing of Qassem Soleimani in 2020."
Soleimani was a top general in Iran's military, leading the expeditionary Quds Force of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps. The squad was responsible for the Islamic Republic's foreign operation. In January 2020, U.S. forces killed Soleimani, and Iran vowed to seek "crushing revenge" for his death. He was blamed for the deaths of hundreds of Americans by the U.S. Defense Department.
After being stabbed, the man freed himself from underneath Nikoubin and was able to call 911 when he got out of the room, police said. She reportedly followed him out of the room, telling a hotel employee that she had just stabbed a man.
Police have not identified the man and his condition was not available, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Police reported that Nikoubin told investigators her purpose for stabbing the man was because "she wanted revenge."
Nikoubin is set to make her first appearance in court on March 24.
