These fishermen must have felt a wave of emotion when they brought in this day’s haul.
A striking video from Australia shows fishermen competing with sharks to pull in as much of the day’s catch as possible. See the clip above.
The clip, captured on March 26 by a local named Philonema Noma, shows the workers on the shore of the beach in Murray Island, Queensland, reeling in as much as as they can while sharks wade in the shallow waters and feed on the dense gathering of fish mere feet away.
Fishermen in the clip can be attempting to collect fish with hand-held nets and lines.
In striking moments, some of the fishermen stand on rocks jutting out of the surface as sharks lurk right next to them in the water.
One of the men hops off the rock and jogs away at one moment, while the woman capturing the footage giggles.
The fishermen seemed to be fearless and comfortable with the task at hand, calmly going about their business even with the nearby sharks.
