One "bride" is going viral on TikTok after she claims to have faked her own wedding to get revenge on a “toxic” ex-boyfriend.
24-year-old Sarah Vilard staged a photoshoot showcasing her hugging the "groom" at what appeared to be an upscale wedding venue, Nexstar Media reported.
“Yup I’m crazy,” she wrote in a caption that accompanied the post, which has since been viewed over 2.4 million times on the social media platform.
The short video also shows Vilard holding hands with a female friend, who looks like she is posing as the maid-of-honor. Vilard is also seen walking up stairs with her soon-to-be “husband” while her long white dress drapes down the staircase. A cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" plays in the background throughout the clip.
Vilard, who lives in Frankfurt, Germany, created the plan with friends as a way to end her relationship with an ex-boyfriend that she still had feelings for.
“I knew if I [didn’t] do it, I might go back with him… I thought the only way to stop this was to make him think I got married," she told the outlet.
The good news: It worked.
After posting some of her fake wedding photos to one of her social media accounts, Vilard’s ex-boyfriend allegedly reached out in disbelief. She said he also accused her of cheating on him with the “groom” during their relationship, which had only ended three months before, the outlet reports.
“I deleted the wedding pictures right after he saw them and blocked him everywhere,” she added. “He stalked me and came up to my house for the next few weeks but then finally moved on and even left the country.”
One thing Vilard is not ready to share is how much money it cost to throw the faux nuptials.
“I don’t want to talk about how much I spent on the fake wedding,” Vilard said.
