(670 The Score) When the Bears hired Kevin Warren this year as their new president and CEO, they were appointing a highly respected executive to reshape their operations at Halas Hall.
For Bears general manager Ryan Poles, the arrival of Warren brought him an ally more than a boss.
“The word I would use is ‘partner,’” Poles said Thursday on the Mully & Haugh Show. “Ever since he’s been here, I feel like I have a partner that’s highly supportive in what we’re doing. I love the fact that he asks good questions. I love the fact that he wants to be involved. Quite frankly, with how busy both of our days are, we carve out time to spend talking about just life and our families, and we talk about the big decisions that may be coming up, and we work through those things. I can give him some understanding on why we’re doing what we’re doing.
“The biggest thing to me is I have a partner. He's there for me. I see him also as a mentor who’s been through a lot, he’s seen different things, so I can ask him really tough questions when I’m trying to make the most sound decision possible for our organization – which often times is not black or white; it’s always grey.
“I can’t express how excited and happy and fortunate I am to have him in this building.”
Warren was officially hired to his role in January and began his position three months later on April 17. Poles was hired as the Bears’ general manager in January of 2022.
The Bears held their first practice of training camp on Wednesday at Halas Hall.
