(670 The Score) The Cubs on Friday called up right-hander Shane Greene and outfielder Alexander Canario from Triple-A Iowa as rosters expanded from 26 players to 28.
Greene, 34, has posted a 2.16 ERA in five starts at Triple-A Iowa this season. He joined the Cubs on a minor league deal in late June.
Canario, 23, was hitting .276 with eight homers and 35 RBIs in 36 games at Triple-A after being promoted in mid-July. The Cubs acquired Canario in a trade that sent third baseman Kris Bryant to the Giants back in 2021.
Both players will be available when the Cubs visit the Reds for a doubleheader Friday.
