(670 The Score) Wrigley Field last hosted the All-Star Game in 1990. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred hinted that the mid-summer classic could soon return to Chicago’s north side.
Manfred told reporters Tuesday night in Seattle that he’s considering stadiums that have not recently hosted the All-Star Game for 2025 or 2027, which still do not have a selected site.
“As time goes by, I’ve been more focused on keeping track of when a game was last there and trying to get back to places where we haven’t been in a really long time,” Manfred told reporters, including Steve Greenberg of the Chicago Sun-Times.
The 2024 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Rangers at their new ballpark in Arlington, and the 2026 mid-summer classic will be played in Philadelphia to commemorate the 250th year of independence for the country.
Manfred indicated that Atlanta is back in consideration for the 2025 All-Star Game after MLB took that away two years ago due to Georgia’s state voting laws.
Chicago last hosted the All-Star Game in 2003, when it was played at Guaranteed Rate Field – then known as U.S. Cellular Field.
