(670 The Score) The White Sox have placed star shortstop Tim Anderson on the 10-day injured list due to a strained left hamstring, they announced Wednesday.
The move is retroactive to Monday. Anderson exited in the first inning of the White Sox’s loss to the Angels on Sunday night after appearing to suffer the injury on a groundout to lead off the game. Anderson is 3-of-15 with a homer in four games this season. He hit .322 with an .886 OPS in 2020. He won the American League batting title in 2019.
With Anderson out, the White Sox added infielder Danny Mendick to their active roster. He hit .243 with a .664 OPS in 33 games in 2020. Mendick is a strong defensive player, as he was a Gold Glove award finalist at second base last season.
Chicago plays at Seattle in a series finale Wednesday afternoon. The White Sox host the Royals in their home opener at Guaranteed Rate Field on Thursday afternoon.
