Bills fall to Giants 34-25 in first preseason outing

The Buffalo Bills fall to the Giants in their first preseason game of the year, and the final one in Highmark Stadium.

(Orchard Park, NY) WGR Sports Radio 550/WBEN - For the final time at Highmark Stadium, the Buffalo Bills took the field for preseason action against the Giants where they fell short by a score of 34-25.

The Giants offense started with the football, quarterbacked by Russel Wilson.
Buffalo's defense stifled the Giants offensive attack and held them to a field goal, scored by Graham Gano from 53 yards out.

That would be the only score of the first quarter as the game was off to a slow start.

The second quarter opened up the scoring, as the Giants tacked their first touchdown on the board. Jackson Dart, now leading the offense, found Lil'Jordan Humphrey on a deep 53-yard pass for a touchdown.

Buffalo was able to answer back with their first touchdown of the day. Trubisky was able to drive into the redzone with the help of running back Ty Johnson, where he found Dawson Knox for an 11-yard touchdown. Bringing the score to within three. Ray Davis was also able to score on the PAT.

The Giants were able to tac on two more field goals, both from 50 yards out to extend their lead further.

To close out the first half, Tyrell Shavers made a 59-yard catch on a deep pass from Trubisky to set up a field goal. Caden Davis knocked it through for a 24-yard field goal to bring the game to within a touchdown.

The pace cooled off exponentially in the second half. The next score came roughly eight minutes into the third quarter. Mike White, leading the Bills offense connected with KJ Hamler on a 39 yard pass for a touchdown. The Bills took their first lead of the day.

The Giants third quarterback of the game, Jameis Winston, was able connect with Gunner Olszewski on a 7-yard pass for a touchdown. Winston was also able to hit Thomas Fidone II for a two-point conversion.

To open the fourth quarter, the Bills answered right back with a touchdown and two-point conversion of their own. Mike White found running back Darrynton Evans on a short 7-yard pass for a touchdown. On the two point attempt, Mike White successfully connected with Laviska Shenault Jr.

The clock continued to run down in the fourth quarter, and the Giants were able to add on another field goal from Jude McAtamney from 42-yards out. They also took advantage of a fumble by the Bills to score a touchdown just outside of the two minute warning.

Time wound down to a close and the Bills fell short in their first outing of the preseason. Up next, they travel to Chicago to take on the Bears next Sunday, August 17th. Kickoff is set for 7:00P.M. You can catch all of the action on the radio home of the Buffalo Bills, WGR Sports Radio 550.
