BUFFALO (WBEN) - New York State GOP Chair Nick Langworthy held a press conference in Buffalo Friday afternoon, accusing Governor Andrew Cuomo's administration of a cover-up.
Cuomo and top aides now face allegations that they covered up the scope of the nursing home death toll after an admission from Melissa DeRosa that they withheld data to stall potential misconduct investigations.
“The gravity of this cover-up...can’t be overstated,” said Langworthy. “He has grossly abused his power."
State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt held a separate virtual press conference Friday morning, also calling for further investigation.
"I ask these two respective departments, the Department of Justice and Attorney General (Letitia) James, to serve as oversight to the government on behalf of the families and this great state, to investigate what appears to be a deliberate cover-up by the governor's office and the Department of Health," said Ortt. "The governor and his top aides must also be investigated and prosecuted if there is, in fact, criminal wrongdoing."
