BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – For the thousands of fans tailgating on Sunday, just coming back to the stadium was a reward in and of itself.
“It’s really good to be back,” Kevin Bromley, a Rochester man who tailgated Sunday, said. “I missed it over the last year. It’s going to be exciting having Bills Mafia rocking Bills Stadium.”
We spoke with a fan named Tom from North Tonawanda who has missed only one home game over the last 20 years, said the excitement ahead of Sunday’s game was one of the most anticipated he’s seen ever.
“Let’s face it, the team was pretty not good for those 20 years,” he said.
Fans were shutout all of last year due to the pandemic restrictions. Only a limited number of fans were allowed to go to the home playoff games, though there was no tailgating for those fans.
“You can see the excitement in the air,” Hammer’s Lot owner Eric Matwijow said. “People have been waiting two years for this. We’ve always been hopeful but now we have the hope because we have a really good team.”
