Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - What to do on an 80 degree September Saturday in Bills Country?
Why not a boat parade?
Hundreds of boats of all sizes and types, decorated to the hilt with Bills red, white and blue, filled Erie Canal Harbor during the noon hour Saturday in anticipation of a huge boat parade that would lead from Canalside, up the Buffalo River to Silo City and back.
Boat horns were blaring to the signature 'Let's Go Buffalo' chant and one boat was blasting the train horn that signifies the DEFENSE is on the field in Highmark Stadium.
Hundreds of Bills fans watched from the shoreline and cheered on the boats as they slowly maneuvered their way up the river.
The event was in conjunction with a Bills event held at Papi Grandes Waterfront Beach Bar which raised money for Oishei Children's Hospital.
Even after the parade had ended, Bills flags, jerseys and regalia was evident along the Buffalo waterfront Saturday. The Fire Boat EM Cotter was in its slip at Michigan Street along the parade route and each window of the pilot house was filled with Bills jerseys of all the fan favorites.
The Buffalo Bills much-anticipated home opener is Monday Night against the Titans.
