Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Police say Thursday a report has been filed against Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz. Police say the woman filed the complaint on Monday.

LISTEN LIVE TO WBEN:

According to the report, Poloncarz let the woman look at his phone, but became "irate when she looked at text messages on his phone." The woman told police Poloncarz grabbed and restrained her against a window.

She managed to escape and run outside, but police say Poloncarz chased her. Police say Poloncarz grabbed the woman again outside, prompting her to scream for help. That's when Poloncarz left the woman's home.

Poloncarz spoke with WBEN to give his side of the story.

"I got into a disagreement with a woman I was seeing over some text messages she found on my phone. This led to a long, emotional discussion that resulted in a tough breakup at the end," said Poloncarz.

He says he was never contacted by police or law enforcement, and didn't hear about the report until being contacted by reporters.

Poloncarz's opponent in November's election for County Executive, Chrissy Casilio, issued the following statement:

"The alleged domestic abuse involving Mark Poloncarz is very troubling. These are serious allegations, and I am calling for an immediate investigation by the District Attorney or an independent prosecutor outside of Erie County. The people of Erie County have had enough of career politicians who think the law does not apply to them. There is a pattern of unhinged and unacceptable behavior by Mark Poloncarz, including threats made to a female process server, and as a woman, I find it repulsive. There is very clearly a double standard, and time and time again, Mark Poloncarz has refused to take accountability for his actions."
