Buffalo, N.Y. ( WBEN) - In response to Buffalo Police SVU Detective Richard Hy's claims against Buffalo Public School, the district is now launching an independent external investigation.

President of the Board Dr. Kathy Evans-Brown says once the investigation is complete, all findings will be made available to the public.

"The Buffalo Board of Education and the district remains dedicated to protecting and educating its 30,000 students each day. There are active and ongoing criminal investigations, and the board does not comment on any pending investigations," stated Evans-Brown.

On Apr. 26th, Hy went on the "Unsubscribe" podcast and accused BPS officials of obstructing sexual assault and child abuse investigations. Hy also stated there are numerous subpoenas and court orders that they are actively ignoring.

Shortly after the video release, BPS stated they are prepared to "vigorously address these untruths." However, when asked if it's still believed Hy isn't telling the truth, Superintendent Dr. Tonja M. Williams Knight pointed at the investigation.

"I think there's an investigation that our board president has shared is going to be ensued, and that whatever the outcome from the investigation is will be shared with the public," stated Williams Knight. "I do believe that is vigorously addressing it."
