Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - In a letter to Buffalo teachers Wednesday evening, Buffalo Teachers Federation President Phil Rumore announced he will retire effective June 30.
"I am confident your future is secure," wrote Rumore in a letter that was sent as the Buffalo Board of Education was meeting. "We have a contract proposal through 2025-26 that I am hopeful will be approved," said Rumore in the correspondence.
The long awaited contract between the teachers union and Buffalo Schools is expected to be nearing final approval and a vote by the board is expected as early as Friday.
"Thank you for all that you do for our students and each other, and also for your support and encouragement through our often difficult times ... and for the honor, yes honor, of being your President for over forty years."
