Buffalo teen shot on Marine Drive

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Police Department says a teen was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital on Thursday morning after being shot in the leg.

Police responded to a call of shots fired just after 7:30 a.m. EST in the 100 block of Marine Drive. According to reports, suspects were possibly attempting to steal property from vehicles in a parking lot when an individual shot one of the suspects in the leg area.

Detectives say the other suspects fled in a vehicle they were driving - which was reported stolen out of Amherst. Authorities say that vehicle was located by Buffalo Police a short time later unoccupied in the City of Buffalo.

The juvenile suspect who was struck in the leg area was transported by ambulance to Oishei Children's Hospital, where he was taken into surgery.

WBEN has learned from a city spokesperson a retired Buffalo Police officer is among those detectives are questioning for their potential role in the shooting.

Detectives will also question the teen shot in the incident, though he still remains hospitalized.
