Michael Burham is described by police as “very dangerous" who escaped from a jail in northwestern Pennsylvania using bed sheets, officials said.
"We’ve located small stockpiles or campsites in wooded areas in the general vicinity of Warren, and we believe that at least some of these may be associated with Burham," Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said in a briefing Sunday afternoon. "We do have some concern he may be receiving some assistance from one or more individuals as well."
Bivens said numerous residences and abandoned structures in vast wooded area have been searched thus far.
While law enforcement believe he remains in the Warren area, the scope of the search has been expanded, Bivens noted.
Bivens continues to urge the public to be vigilant and lock their doors and he is encouraging everyone to familiarize themselves with his photo.
"I’m confident we will find him ... one way or another, he’ll be caught."
Burham, 34, escaped from a jail in Warren by climbing on exercise equipment and using bed sheets to escape through a window, authorities said. Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police said Burham was being held in lieu of $1 million bail on kidnapping, burglary and other charges, and Warren police said he was a suspect in a homicide investigation.
