Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Buffalo man has been charged with the slashing of an 18-year-old outside Riverside High School on Wednesday.
Makai Cook was arraigned in Buffalo City Court on Thursday on assault, menacing, trespass and weapons charges. Police say he slashed the student outside the school with a box cutter.
Cook ran off after the attack, but was arrested nearby a short time later.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where he was treated for the injuries and released.
Cook is scheduled to return Tuesday morning for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.
A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. If convicted of the highest charge, Cook faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
