Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Former Grand Island Town Supervisor Nate McMurray is hoping the third time is a charm.
McMurray is throwing his hat into the Congressional ring for NY-26. He says the region needs a candidate who will challenge the MAGA movement.
McMurray says America is facing a severe crisis. "We have a candidate who is a criminal, who is quoting Mein Kampf, who was threatening nuclear war to stay in office," says McMurray referring to Donald Trump. "I don't want to sit back as we elect Kim Jong Trump, and we don't have a push back from from the Democratic Party in my hometown," says McMurray.
McMurray says most people run for themselves. He says he wants to serve the community. "You just got to keep fighting for what you believe in no matter what, and Ignore the naysayers. When you really believe in something, it's important to get your voice out there, especially if no one else is advocating for the things you believe in," says McMurray. He says he believes in a bubble-up economy, where working people should come first, not corporations, "People should have health care, that abortion is a fundamental right, as long as healthcare itself is a fundamental right," adds McMurray.
McMurray will be interviewed for the special election nomination with State Senator Tim Kennedy and Erie County Legislator Jeanne Vinal Thursday. The congressional primary is set for June.
