Tonawanda, N.Y. (WBEN) - The splash pad at Paddock Park in the Town of Tonawanda was set to be open this summer, but the town's supervisor says delays have kept that pad from opening up.
Supervisor Joe Emminger says the splash pad is still coming along nicely along Brompton Road.
"We'll still have some nice weather in front of us, but if not this year, it'll definitely be open for next year, for sure," said Emminger with WBEN.
Emminger had been shooting for a July opening, but construction and regulatory approval delays pushed it back. He does admit the Town Board is disappointed by those circumstances.
Despite the delays, Emminger does feel there is still a chance the pad could open before the change in weather. While this summer was missed, Emminger believes that will soon be forgotten.
"The Paddock Chevrolet splash pad will be there for the next 40, 50, 60, years, and nobody's going to remember years from now that it wasn't open in 2024," Emminger said.
Emminger says the possibility of the splash pad being open year could be by the fall.
