West Seneca, N.Y. (WBEN) - Starpoint Central School District Superintendent Sean Croft is facing DWI charges after a single car crash in West Seneca on Saturday, according to West Seneca Police.

Police say the accident occurred on Nina Terrace near East and West Road in the town around 3:30 p.m. ET.

The vehicle Croft was driving struck a tree as it exited the neighborhood, leading to heavy front-end damage and air bag deployment. Croft, 50, was located in the driver’s seat and showed several signs of intoxication, police say.

Croft failed several field sobriety tests and a roadside breath test was also positive for alcohol. He was placed under arrest for DWI and returned to the West Seneca Police station. He refused the administration of a breath test at the station to determine his blood alcohol level.

Croft is reportedly on leave from the district as a result, and due back in court later this month.
