Suspect indicted in the homicide case of Tiara Lott

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Erie County District Attorney John Flynn alongside Mayor Byron Brown announced Monday the indictment of Andre "Dro" Whigham, 28, on one charge murder in the second degree.

It is alleged that around the night of January 29th, 2021 or the morning after, the defendant strangled his girlfriend, 22-year-old Tiara Lott, intentionally with his hands inside of an upstairs apartment on Gold Street in the City of Buffalo.

The victim, Tiara Lott, was reporting missing by her family and found two weeks later on the 13th of February, 2021, by Buffalo Police who found her body alongside railroad tracks near Wex Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

"He turned himself in this morning and was arraigned this afternoon in front of Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan on an indictment charging him with murder in the second degree," said Erie County District Attorney John Flynn. "The defendant left town and we got the U.S. Marshalls involved, and the U.S. Marshall's have been on this case for over a year trying to locate Mr. Whigham and fortunately, he did turn himself in this morning."

If Whigham is convicted of this charge he could receive a maximum sentence of 25 years to life.

"This case has been an ongoing effort a year and almost four months, it's been an ongoing effort by the Buffalo Police Department, the Sheriff's Department, the U.S. Marshalls and my office to bring justice to this 22-year-old victim and to bring justice to her family and to bring justice to her friends and to bring justice to the entire community and the City of Buffalo," said DA Flynn.
