During committee meetings at the Erie County Legislature on Thursday, representatives from the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning, among others, were in attendance to present to the Legislature some finalized documents as part of the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR) that was presented to the governing body last month.

"It was just the final process of the SEQR of some certain documents that we were waiting on that were in the whole resolution about some traffic patterns, drainage issues, just things to make everything complete. Now these forms are all complete, and it'll be up to the Legislature to approve or deny the negative SEQR," said Legislature Majority Leader, Tim Meyers.

Some of the documents presented to Legislators on Thursday were still in its draft form when the review was originally presented back on Dec. 8. A plan to vote on the final SEQR review was slated for last Thursday, Jan. 5, but it was pushed back to allow for more time to finalize these matters.

"Everything has been indicated that it has no negative impact on the environment, and it just goes to talking about the stadium size, drainage size," Meyers said. "You have to remember when the old stadium was built, there was no SEQR process, no environmental review or anything like that. So it's just a smaller footprint, and just the standards are higher and more efficient, I should say."

Meyers adds it is his expectation the vote on the finalized SEQR will take place next Thursday, and he expects the vote will be in favor of the findings with the stadium having no negative impacts to the environment.

When the SEQR process is completed next Thursday, it will kick start a 30-day "exclusivity period" to finalize the remaining details of the stadium deal for the Bills.
