BUFFALO (WBEN) - "It's been 504 days since we've had people in the theater," said Shea's Performing Arts Center President Michael Murphy, as one of Buffalo's beloved venues is finally reopening for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
Thursday night's concert, "The Music of Disney on Broadway," is a one-night event that features songs to Disney favorites such as "Beauty and the Beast," "A Whole New World," "Circle of Life," and "Let It Go."
"Theater is very healing, and we need that right now, in particular," Murphy continued. "During the COVID crisis, at the height of it, the arts weren't as essential - there were other essential things that we as a society needed to take care of - but I think the arts are even more essential now."
Proof of vaccination will not be required to attend the event, but patrons who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear a mask.
Tickets range in price from $25 to $55 and are available through Shea's Box Office, as well as Ticketmaster.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Shea's Arts Engagement & Education Programs.
