PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (1010 wins) — One person was killed after a car plunged into the water at Hempstead Bay off of North Hempstead Bar Beach in Port Washington on Wednesday, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Officers found the body while investigating a car in the water.
The beach is separated from West Shore Road by a grassy park, though several parking lots and piers abut the water.
Police did not say what events led up to the fatal crash.
