PASSAIC, N.J. (WCBS 880) —The two bodies recovered by New Jersey rescue crews have been identified as the Passaic friends who went missing after Ida.
Passaic Mayor Hector Lora confirmed to WNBC that the medical examiner determined their identities after a second body was found near Route 21 and Clay Street.

A first body was pulled from the water less than 4 miles away from Kearny, New Jersey, WNBC reports.
Officials expanded the search this week for Seton Hall University freshman Nidhi Rana, 18, and her friend Ayush Rana, 21, after witnesses saw the pair try to exit their vehicle as floodwaters from Ida inundated it around 9:30 p.m. last Wednesday.
The friends had not been seen since then.
Officials told WNBC any determination of an official identity will take forensic confirmation.
