Video showed a man getting out of his parked vehicle, walking over to the dog, grabbing it and placing it in the back of his black BMW SUV.

The suspect drove off and the dog’s owner returned to find his pet gone and called the authorities.

The dog was returned to its owners on Tuesday, according to News12 Long Island.

In an interview with News12, the dog’s owner, Marvin McNeill, said he was grateful to have his pet back home.

“I was angry that somebody took my dog because this is my only friend,” he said while holding his dog. “We’re always together.”

News12 reported that the man who took the dog believed it was abandoned in front of the store.

The Nassau County SPCA previously said it would offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction in the case.

Nassau County Police officials could not confirm if any arrests have been made in connection with the incident
