Luis Umanzor, 49, told police that three strangers put a bag over his head while he was standing in an Islandia 7-Eleven parking lot and forced him into a vehicle, where they held him for hours before dropping him off at a nearby hospital on Thursday.

The Suffolk County Police Department investigated the claim and arrested him two days later for filing a false police report.

Umanzor later admitted to officers that he lied about the kidnapping in order to impress his estranged spouse.

He faces charges for falsely reporting an incident and making a sworn false statement.
