The 13-month-old was found in a parked car at the Target on Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore around 4:20 p.m. Saturday, according to Suffolk County police.

The vehicle was turned off when officers arrived, police said. Temps in the area were in the 20s Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The child “did not appear to be in distress” to the responding officers, police said.

The parents—Paul Albinagorta, 34, and Natalia Pascual, 22—came back to the car at 4:30 p.m. and were eventually arrested by police. They were both charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The child was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for observation.

Child Protective Services was notified, according to police, who said the toddler would be released to a family member.
