LI woman, 37, killed in hit-and-run by suspect driving with suspended license

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A 37-year-old female pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident involving a driver with a suspended license early Wednesday morning, police said.

The victim was struck around 1 a.m. by a 2005 silver Infiniti sedan traveling southbound on Franklin Avenue in Hempstead in Nassau County while crossing the street.

The car then fled the scene, police said.

Police responded to a call for a pedestrian struck and discovered the victim was lying face down unresponsive in the street, police said. She was later taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 7:37 a.m.

Marcial Pimentel, 20, of Franklin Square, was located by police and arrested.

The victim was identified as Jessica Carbajal.

Pimental is charged with leaving the scene of an incident, driving with a suspended license, and death and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.
