NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two NYPD officers were injured while arresting a suspect who attempted to rob a Queens cellphone store on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 4:30 p.m. at Cell Part Guru at 120-18 Liberty Ave. in South Ozone Park, WABC 7 reports.

The officers arrived at the scene and were injured as they tried to take the 25-year-old man who attempted to rob the store into custody, police told the outlet.

One officer suffered a leg injury and remained hospitalized as of Tuesday night, while a second officer was treated and released from the hospital after she suffered a back injury, according to the report.

The suspect was due to be charged with second-degree assault and attempted robbery.
