NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An alleged serial bank robber who has been reportedly targeting financial institutions throughout Manhattan since late September attacked an innocent bystander during the latest attempted theft, according to a new report.

The alleged thief has been entering banks in Manhattan, walking up to the teller and handing over notes demanding money, according to a report from NBC New York.
The suspect allegedly first struck a bank on Sixth Avenue and West 4th Street on Sept. 20.
The most recent incident occurred on Nov. 26, according to the news organization, in which the unidentified man handed over a note and then attacked a nearby customer after the teller took too long to comply.
Surveillance footage obtained by NBC showed the suspect, a middle-aged man, walk into the bank, wait in line and hand the teller the note.
According to NBC, the man did state that he was armed and would “do violent actions.”
When the teller took too long, the man then turned to a nearby customer and snatched cash from his hand. Video showed the victim fought back and the situation quickly escalated into a brawl.
“Things took a turn really quickly, just seeing that is kind of out of the ordinary. For somebody to just go from an institution like a bank and immediately turn to a customer, it's very concerning,” Det. Jaysen Murphy of the NYPD Major Case Squad told the news station.
The man had hit several other banks across Manhattan on Oct. 2, Oct. 14 and Oct. 20, according to NBC.
NBC reported that a reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
