NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Antisemitic graffiti was found scrawled on an Israeli restaurant just weeks after it opened on the Upper West Side.

A photo tweeted Thursday by Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine shows “F*** Jews” spray-painted three times on an outdoor dining structure at Miriam.
The restaurant, a fixture in Park Slope for 17 years, just opened its new location at Amsterdam Avenue and 74th Street a couple of weeks ago.
Restaurant staff arrived Thursday morning to find the vandalism.
“It is really disgusting that this is the welcome that this restaurant got,” Levine said. “They’re open less than three weeks. They’re still putting together their full operation. And to have this horrible, horrible antisemitic messaging scrawled on their outdoor dining structure, it’s reprehensible.”
Levine had dinner at the restaurant Thursday night to show his support. He encouraged everyone to stop by for a bite to eat.

The NYPD said its Hate Crime Task Force is investigating.
Miriam owner Rafael Hasid told 1010 WINS that he was saddened by the hateful message. He has been in close contact with police, who are looking through surveillance video.
“We’re just feeling like we’re coming out of two years of very hard work, and being in the hospitality business during COVID, and now this,” he said.
Gov. Kathy Hochul tweeted that she was “disgusted” by the graffiti and noted that Miriam is right down the block from Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan.
“Antisemitism and hate have no home here and we must all do our part to stop it,” the governor tweeted.
Hochul urged anyone with info to text HATE to 81336 or call 1-877-NO-HATE-NY to report it to the New York State Police. The NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline can also be reached at 1-800-577-TIPS.
