Bloomberg, who famously served three terms from 2002 to 2013, made the comments during the Fortune Society’s annual gala, an event also attended by Adams on Tuesday.

During the gala, Bloomberg accepted the “Game Changer” award for his support of the nonprofit, which helps formerly incarcerated people.

During his speech, Bloomberg predicted good days ahead for New York “with the great leadership like I’m convinced we’re going to have in this city for the next four, or eight, or—if you’re clever—12 years.”

Bloomberg served 12 years as mayor after controversial changes were made to the city's term limits law in 2008—changes ultimately undone by voters two years later.

Adams has a commanding lead over GOP rival Curtis Sliwa and is heavily favored to win next Tuesday’s election.

Speaking at the gala before Bloomberg, Adams praised the billionaire's contributions to the Fortune Society and alluded to Jesus calming the waters on the Sea of Galilee.

“The best part was when Eric compared me to Jesus Christ,” Bloomberg said as he took the podium.

Bloomberg thanked Adams for coming to the event and told him, “Good luck... I’m not sure you need it.”

“While this is a nonpartisan event, let me just say that the fact you are here and that you recognize the important work the Fortune Society does is a very good sign for the future of this city,” he said.
